Kim Dempster

Human Trafficking Activist

Kim Dempster, has put her unique signature on numerous media including commercials, music videos, inter-active and narrative film. She has always demonstrated a great range of emotion and connection with her audience.

Always attracted to projects with a social conscience, most recently Kim teamed up with the NGO Freedom For All, to create an awareness campaign against human trafficking. The project is called “Stop The Nightmare” and portrays different individuals and their dreams on the night when they realize they have been taken into captivity. Whether it’s an adult laborer or a girl taken for sex trafficking, you are immediately transported to those visually arresting thoughts and invited to feel what it’s like to be trapped without a voice.

With an extensive body of work, both domestic and international, Kim has acquired a unique global perspective. She has directed countless television campaigns including Olay, Pantene, Estee Lauder, Tresemme, Redken, Crest, Sprite, Head & Shoulders, Wrigleys, Discover Card, Sunsilk, among many others.
Kim’s narrative films have been recognized at many film festivals including Sundance, Chicago Film Festival and Los Angeles Film Festival. “The Last Seduction” was picked up by Paramount and “Danny Irvine Always Has A Good Time” by A&E. Both films were given “Pick Of The Week” in the Los Angeles press.

What is TEDx?

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxFultonStreet, where x = independently organized TED event.

At our TEDxFultonStreet event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
