James Beacham

Experimental Particle Physicist

Dr. James Beacham is an experimental high energy particle physicist at New York University. He currently works on ATLAS, one of the two collaborations that discovered the Higgs boson, at the Large Hadron Collider, CERN, and with APEX, an experiment that searches for a dark photon, the discovery of which would revolutionize our understanding of nature at fundamental scales, and would shed light on some of the most pressing outstanding issues in physics, such as the origin of dark matter and the possible existence of supersymmetry.

What is TEDx?

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxFultonStreet, where x = independently organized TED event.

At our TEDxFultonStreet event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
